We opened in Easter

The summer season saw heatwaves and a very busy beach, with a lot of hires.

With the aid of some grant funding, we trained four wingsurf instructors – Andy, Ian, Mikey and Crawford – and began to run introductory sessions. Everyone from youngsters to veteran sailors have given it a go and loved it. The sensation is almost like you are flying.

With windsurf equipment coming at a premium cost, we are able to offer this experience to those who would not otherwise be able to try it out. As the main season ended we opened on Saturdays (weather permitting) for some more tasters and also improver sessions.

New Quay school returned to us after a couple of years’ break due to Covid, and all students tried windsurfing, sailing, paddleboarding and kayaking at least once. This year the teachers were keen to join in as well.

We also welcomed groups from the Llain Activity Centre for sailing and windsurfing sessions, and pupils from the Pupil Referral Unit.

Members of staff attended the RYA Ffin a Ffoil weekend in Dale, Pembrokeshire. We provided instructor-led sessions in wingsurfing and even some foiling, as well as giving safety boat cover. We also participated ourselves. Kat went windsurfing for the first time in years and managed to break her toe!

We have continued to support New Quay Yacht Club, and our powerboat pro Llewellyn Griffiths was awarded the Poseidon Trophy for services to the club, particularly on race days.
