ICC/PB2 Direct Assessment

The direct assessment is a one-on-one session for experienced powerboat
users to gain their RYA Powerboat Level 2 qualification. The instructor
will assess your skills to ensure you meet the expected outcomes of the PB2
Expect that this will include:
Launch and recovery
High and low speed manoeuvres
Man overboard recovery methods
Other seamanship skills
Understanding and use of charts
Understanding of tides and currents
Securing to a buoy
Leaving and coming alongside

On successful completion of the course, you can apply for the International
Certificate of Competence (ICC) available through the RYA, which is a
requirement of many countries even if only visiting for a holiday.
Please bring a passport-sized photograph of yourself for your certificate.

We like to use our own boats as we know they meet the minimum criteria expected by the RYA.
- What boats do you have?
We have two Highfield RIBs for PB2 training, and five ‘O’ boats. See our fleet >>
- When do you run the assessments ?
Get in touch so we can agree a day that works for your diary and ours.
- Are the assessments at a set time every day?
We will suggest days that work for our diaries and allow for the tide.
