Sailing Taster

Learn and have fun with the Experts

This is a great way to have an introduction to or refresher in sailing without the risk of capsizing and getting wet. We will take you out for two hours in New Quay bay and explain the basics, while also letting you have a go at helming. (If you would like to learn to sail in smaller dinghies e.g. Laser or Topper, please let us know and we can set this up.)

We will use the Hawk 20 keel-boat for this session so the instructor will be on the boat with you. Our taster session will start by taking you out to the boat which will be on anchor in the bay.

To make sure you get the most out of the session you will be doing most of the work under close instruction. The keel boat is designed not to capsize so there is no need for wetsuits on this session, but you may still get wet depending on conditions.

We will provide you with a life jacket or buoyancy aid and waterproofs unless you want to use your own.  We even have a selection of sea boots to fit most sizes. You can of course use your own sea boots or wellies so long as they have non marking soles.

You don’t need any experience, just a willingness to give it a go. Ages 8 and above, with a max of four people.

If you don’t find a suitable date, get in touch and we will try to arrange a taster to suit you.

If you want to learn to sail smaller boats (dinghies like Toppers, Lasers, Laser 2000s etc.) please let us know and we can set this up. A taster is ideal before committing to a two-day course.
