Detergents
- Read the label and follow the instructions.
- Use the correct PPE for chemicals to be used.
- Keep area well ventilated.
- Do not mix chemicals.
- Return to store when finished.
- Clean spills immediately.
- Store away from heat / light.
- Do not store above head height.
- Store in the original container
- Prevent access by vulnerable people.
Shared equipment
Buoyancy aids , wet suits etc. will be hygiene cleaned after every use with a solution of fresh water and Rinsd, then dried overnight in the drying room.
Rinsd is a new (2025) wetsuit cleaning detergent comprised of two powders.
- Use one scoop from each tub in a bucket with warm water to dissolve
- Mix into half a barrel of fresh water
- Solution good for 48 hours
- Wear gloves provided (solution can be drying to skin)
- Shake off excess sand
- Dunk and soak (if possible) wetsuits/BAs
- Rinse in fresh water
- Hang to dry outside
- Move to drying room before Centre closes for the day
- Use washing up liquid if Rinsd is not available
Only cleaning chemicals stored in containers greater than 5 litres are required to have relevant COSHH data sheets available.
SOP amended 24 May 2025 to include new information about Rinsd detergent.
