Rinsd is a new wetsuit detergent, the brainchild of local surfer and lifeguard Will Thomas. Having chatted to the Centre manager about the difficulties of keeping kit clean and fresh, including during Covid, Will brought his product to us to test out in a commercial setting.
We have now updated our policies and procedures in line with using Rinsd, as we think it’s pretty good! The drying room smells much better, the racks smell much better, and the stinky dunking barrels will no longer make it hard to breathe. Instructors and other dunkers have commented, hey, there’s something smelling nice in this barrel for a change!
We have found that when cleaning lots of kit (like 100 wetsuits and 100 BAs a day), it’s best to use some nice big gloves, as the solution can be drying to the skin. (Still better than wetsuit rash though.)

Cleaning policy with Rinsd:
BAs will be hygiene cleaned after every use with a solution of fresh water and Rinsd, then dried overnight in the drying room.
Rinsd is a new (2025) wetsuit cleaning detergent comprised of two powders.
- Use one scoop from each tub in a bucket with warm water to dissolve
- Mix into half a barrel of fresh water
- Solution good for 48 hours
- Wear gloves provided (solution can be drying to skin)
- Shake off excess sand
- Dunk and soak (if possible) wetsuits/BAs
- Rinse in fresh water
- Hang to dry outside
- Move to drying room before Centre closes for the day
Rinsd also do small packs of tablets for individual use – check them out on Insta.
