Congratulations Hannah!

Congratulations to one of our senior dinghy instructors, Hannah Schafer, who was presented with an RYA Wales Impact Award for her coaching. She was nominated by several members of her regular Women’s Only sailing sessions, which have run on Friday mornings for several years.

Hannah has worked at CBW for many years and was herself taught to sail by Jennifer Davies, who taught here from the Centre’s inception. It was fabulous to have Jennifer and Hannah with us, as well as Amanda, Roma and Jane out on the water in the Bahia to show Hester Walker, the West Wales Club Development Officer at RYA Cymru, what a session here looks like.

Roma is one of Hannah’s students, who will soon be a qualified instructor herself; her daughter Ciara has been instructing with us for three years and just gained her senior instructor ticket. It’s great to be able to nurture talent and see successive generations getting on the water. We have a great record encouraging female participation in what is still quite a male-dominated arena.

We enjoyed a sail, a chat and plenty of coffee and cake.
