Daily Operating Procedures – March 2021

The Operation of the Centre is around 3 roles where kayaks and paddleboards are hired. 

As Covid 19 restrictions allow instructor lead activities, then the instructor would report to the Runner.

 

Runner (person in charge)

Administrator

Safety boat driver

 

Runner

The person in charge and manager of the shift. Would cancel or postpone a session if the risks are unmanageable.

Liaise between administrator and Safety boat driver.

Issues equipment to the customer, checks fit of buoyancy aid, advises operating area, updates Safety boat driver. 

Meets customer at the end of the hire session, recovers kit, hygiene cleans paddles after use.

Packs and secures kit at the end of the day.

Working outdoors dressed according to the weather.

Ready to go on the water to assist using spare Safety boat if required.

 

Administrator

Sets out the centre at the start of the day.

Updates diary with weather and staff details.

Checks inbound email notices of new bookings, liaises with customer enquiries.

Advises customers on selection of buoyancy aids.

Hygiene cleans buoyancy aids after each use.

Packs up and loads drying room with washed kit.

Closes down the centre at the end of the day.

 

Safety boat driver.

Maintains watch on kayaks and paddleboards especially of wind direction, and surf.

Steers customers away from hazards and polices the CBW operating area.

Assists customers on the water.

Checks equipment and fuel levels on both operational boats, refuelling as required.

Working outdoors dressed according to the weather, and ready to enter the water if required.

 

Assistant Runner

Is an extra pair of hands to assist where needed.

Liaise between Administrator and Safety boat driver.

Issues equipment to the customer, checks fit of buoyancy aid, advises operating area, updates Safety boat driver. 

Meets customer at the end of the hire session, recovers kit, hygiene cleans paddles after use.

Packs and secures kit at the end of the day.

Working outdoors dressed according to the weather.

 

Shifts allocated and notified by the centre manager using email.  Shift swaps between individuals using “WhatsApp” group to ensure cover.
