Petrol and refuelling Policy
Shall only be undertaken by staff trained over 16+ by the Centre manager.
Extreme caution must be used in respect of yourself, members of the public and CBW personnel.
Petrol and its fumes are extremely flammable.
No smoking or naked lights.

Petrol is stored in 20 litre metal Jerry cans in the locked fuel store in the boat compound.
Consider your Manual handling at the start of the process.
Select a suitable area ensuring you have a clear exit in the event of fire.
Have a Fire extinguisher next to you.
Have the spills kit next to you.
The ribs have underfloor fuel tanks (120 & 240 litre). These are best refuelled at the garage. Refuel when the boat is on a dried out mooring at low water. If you must refuel on the water then do so when the boat is tied to a pier or mooring away from waves to avoid spillage.
The orange safety boats all use the same style of red plastic 25 litre removable fuel tanks which are easily interchanged. Do not attempt on the water refuelling. Do not fill as 25 litres fuel is heavy !
The Pressure washer has a small fixed metal tank above the engine.
The Quad bike has a fixed fuel tank adjacent to the seat.
Use a filter funnel to refill the tank trying to avoid spillage by working slowly.
Do not overfill.
Replace the tank and jerry can lids as soon as possible after refilling.
Use the spills kit to recover and spillages.
Tidy up, returning the filter and jerry can/s to the fuel store.
