COVID 19 Policy - 6th August 2020

Customers or staff who:

  • Display symptoms (new cough / high temperature, loss of sense of smell or taste)
  • Have been in contact with someone displaying symptoms or
  • Have tested positive

Will not be permitted to take part in any activity and will be required to return home.

Customers and staff at higher risk will be recommended to stay away.

Hire of kayaks and paddleboards only. No wet suit hire. No dinghy or windsurf hire.

No customer changing, shower or secure storage.

No instructor led activity or courses. (Paddleboard lesson / staff training excepted)

Bookings online only, maximum of 12 customers per time slot.

General working policy

Shift work in cohorts (1 x admin, 1 x runner, 1 x safety boat).

Staff arrive at work dressed ready, no staff changing facility.

Staff to bring own drinks / food.  No facility at centre.

Maintain social distancing with staff, customers and public.

Frequent washing of hands and/or use of hand sanitiser.

Minimal facial contact.

Staff briefing ahead to be held outside.

Minimal job-sharing during shift (i.e. only administrator uses desk, PC etc.).

Timesheets to be submitted online or by text to Centre Manager.

Staff / Customer / Member of the Public in need of First Aid – ref Accident & First Aid Policy


Wipe down surfaces and desk equipment at start of shift.

Issues hand held VHF radios, clean before/after use using wipes.

Hygiene clean staff toilet after every use.

Using a mask is optional (CBW supplied).

Customer online booking only.

Maximum of 12 customers per time slot.

Booking additions or alterations to be made by phone (card payment / refund)

No cash payments.

Customer to self-serve for buoyancy aids

Maintain social distancing when assisting customers.

Hygiene clean buoyancy aids between users


Use gloves when handling kit (CBW supplied).

Mark new gloves with your name.

Use your named gloves when handling kit. (Refer to Manual handling policy.)

Maintain social distancing when assisting customers.

Move kayaks, SUP’s and paddles close to the water at the start of a shift.

Customer to self-serve paddles – cleaning facility to be supplied by CBW.

Hygiene clean kayaks and paddleboards between users and at end of day.

Safety boat

Hygiene clean boat and equipment at the start of shift.

Using a mask is optional (CBW supplied).
