Kayak & Paddleboarding Tour Policy
DRAFT policy for further discussion with staff (2-5-25)
Single or double kayaks or paddleboards can be taken on tours.
Minimum age 12 years old. (Under 12s will not have the strength to safely paddle the whole tour.)
Weaker or less confident paddlers should take a double kayak with another paddler.
Under 12s must be accompanied by an adult.
Buoyancy aid to be worn at all times by all paddlers.
Paddleboard leash to be worn on SUPs at all times. One person per paddleboard only.
Kayak tours will operate outside of our defined operating area; they will always be accompanied by our fully coded RIB (commercially endorsed for 6 people total). The boat is available for any help and support required by the leader or customers.
Tour guide will have a VHF radio to communicate with the boat and the Centre.
Customers to stay with their craft at all times.
Observe Ceredigion Marine Conservation Code of Conduct – staying 100m or more away from caves, cliffs and other habitat.
When wildlife is sighted, we will stop paddling to watch; we will never approach wild animals.
Cardigan Bay Watersports reserves the right to cancel or terminate a session or sessions if there is an unmanageable risk. We will endeavour to do this at least 24 hours before a session where possible, and we will make every effort to rearrange where possible. The final call will be made by the senior member of staff for that day, or the Chief Instructor.
