BOOKING INFORMATION
HOW TO BOOK
To help you find the right course, please read each course description carefully. Once you've made your choice of course and dates and have read the booking conditions, post or fax the completed booking form with the appropriate payment. Alternatively, you can telephone us with your details or book on-line.
- To check course suitability or availably, please do not hesitate to contact us.
- We regret provisional bookings cannot be accepted.
- All course payments must be made prior to arrival.
WHAT TO BRING
We recommend you bring plenty of warm clothing. Other items you will need:
- Swimming Costume
- Towel
- Trainers, wetsuit boots or other suitable footwear
- Gloves or specialist sailing gloves
- Hat
- Flask or water bottle
- Sun block or sun glasses
- Any other item specified in your course instructions.
PHYSICAL FITNESS
You should be confident in water. We don't expect you to swim across the bay but you will get more out of your course with a reasonable level of general fitness. You must advise on the booking form of any illness or medical disability. If you suffer from asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, giddy spells, angina, or other heart conditions, you should check with your doctor before making a booking and be in a position to produce a note from your doctor if required. Failure to disclose medical conditions will absolve Cardigan Bay Watersports of any liability.
SAFETY
In addition to enjoyment and learning new skills, safety is of paramount importance on all Cardigan Bay Watersports courses. Clearly, watersports and adventure activities are hazardous by their nature and participants, parents or guardians must accept that there are risks and the inevitable bumps and scrapes which happen during the thrills and spills of fast moving activities. To manage the risks so far as we are able we have a safe system of work:
- We only employ qualified experienced staff
- We provide a range of quality personal protective and safety equipment for participants' comfort and safety
- We provide up-to-date equipment for your course
- We teach to national governing body recommendations and guidelines, in small groups
- We have robust management and safety systems, which have been inspected by approved bodies such as AALA and RYA.
- We reserve the right to modify to cancel an activity if we feel that there are unmanageable risks.
AGE LIMITS
Most courses are for those aged 14 and over. Under-14s can only be accepted on non-youth courses if an adult accompanies them. Youth courses are for those between 8 to 16 years of age, or as specified.
The minimum unaccompanied age for yacht cruising courses is 16. For powerboat and personal watercraft courses, the minimum age is 14 years and an adult must accompany all under 16s on the course.
YOUR COURSE
The published dates include start and finish dates. You will receive start times of your course with the acknowledgement of your booking or on receipt of final payment, if it is a late booking.
YACHT CRUISING
Yacht cruising courses start from our base at Aberystwyth Marina. You will receive joining instructions and a list of what to bring when your booking is confirmed.
Sailing, windsurfing and powerboating courses take place from our New Quay watersports centre. You should arrive at the Centre at 0915 hours daily, unless your instructions say otherwise.
USING YOUR OWN EQUIPMENT
You are very welcome to bring and use your own equipment but please note that you bring and use it at your own risk as we cannot accept any responsibility for any damage or loss to personal possessions or equipment, howsoever caused.
PAYMENTS
All bookings must be accompanied by the appropriate payment.
A non-returnable deposit of £60 is required for courses. The balance to be paid 6 weeks before the start of the course. The full fee is required if a course is booked less than 6 weeks before it starts.
Crossed cheques/postal orders should be made payable to Cardigan Bay Watersports or you can book and pay on-line.
CANCELLATION BY CLIENT
All cancellations must be in writing. Your personal insurance may provide cover against certain unavoidable cancellation.
If you cancel up to 8 weeks before the start of your course you only lose your deposit.
If less than 8 weeks notice of cancellation is given after payment of the balance of the course fee has been made, 80% of your course fee will be retained.
Course bookings may only be transferred up to 4 weeks prior to the commencement of the original course booking. This is subject to course availability and a 10% administration fee.
CANCELLATION BY CARDIGAN BAY WATERSPORTS
Every attempt will be made to ensure your course actually runs. However, Cardigan Bay Watersports reserves the right to cancel a course if viable numbers are not achieved at any time.
2. Where a course has to be cancelled, we'll offer either a full refund of fees or an alternative course on the same date or a different set of dates. Cardigan Bay Watersports liability does not extend beyond points 1-2 above.
INSURANCE
Personal insurance is not included in the course fee. Whilst you are in the best hands at Cardigan Bay Watersports we strongly advise that you take out additional cover for your own peace of mind and to cover you if you have to cancel your place on a course for reasons beyond your control. You must acknowledge that you already hold appropriate insurance cover on the booking form.
PRIVACY POLICY
We regard your privacy as important and information we collect from you, where you choose to provide it to us, is to enable us to send to you information about products or services in which you register an interest or which we believe may be of interest to you. By providing us with your information you consent to us processing it for the purposes outlined above. We will not pass your information to any third party. Cardigan Bay Watersports does not disclose buyers' information to third parties.
